If a tree falls in the forest and there's no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?
Oh and by the way........I'm vying for your job.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the technology for sucessful nuclear fusion. I think all the crap going on in the middle east is making it tempting for the powers that be to play the cards.
Cheap abundant non poluting energy. Sounds like a winner to me.

I need a hug (vent)
by Billygoat inwhy is it i always end up working for companies that don't give a crap about their employees well-being?
i've been here since march as a temp; got a full-time offer in december and almost immediately the workload has increased and there is no new hires are on the horizon.
the political games in some of these departments is mind-blowing.

Andi,
Wish I could offer some words of support, but I've worked for myself for so long I doubt I could keep a job at a regular "place of employment". I'm sure the politics would be more than I could handle. There's something to be said for having the luxury of being able to throw your tools back in the truck and drive off if you feel like it. Having somebody bust your chops and offer no appreciation can wear a person down quick. I hope things smooth out for you. HUGZZ

Are There Some People Here That You Feel TOTALLY Comfortable With??
by minimus in....that you could tell them anything and share your identity with??
?

I'm very comfortable with lots of folks here on the board. I do however have to say that I am more comfortable with those I have interacted with in person and over the phone. I was welcomed into Tex and Nina's home. It was an experience unfamiliar to sheila and I. We were likewise welcomed into XenaWarriors home the friends we met in GreenBay and Dallas proved to be just what their online personas reflected.
Razor and I visit over the phone from time to time and he knows that our door is always open to him. The same goes for all our Dallas and GreenBay peeps.
I'm not saying that the folks I haven't met personally are any less quality persons, just that until I can make that personal connection, my comfort level as far as sharing very personal info is restricted. There are so many of you that I would like to get to know. The level of talented self expression and depth of feeling and empathy here is incredible. I would love to have a chance to cultivate friendships with most all of you, but realisticly I know that I will have to settle for far less.
Besides, no telling how many of you guys wouldn't take one look at me and run screaming into the night!

Disassociated
by Euphemism ini just found out that the elders announced meia's and my disassociation at the service meeting this week.
they'd called me on monday and told me that they were going to; i fired off an appeal letter the next day, and hadn't heard anything, so i thought they might have postopned the announcement.
i just found out, however, that the meeting was held on monday this week because the other congregation had the co's visit.

Euph,
Tough situation, I sympathize. You might try doing what I did. Get some dirt on one of the elders or their family and "bargain". I did that until I was able to inform my family of my decision and was able to salvage my relationship with most of them.
In the end the'ry going to have their way, but you don't have to make it be easy for them.
Hope it all works out for you.

What's wrong with this picture?
by eisenstein inmaybe i had my nose in way too many wts and as but, can someone tell me why does it seem to be that the republicans spend all of the money while they are in office...and the democrats are left to balance the budget and pay back the deficit when they get back in office?.
i have been listening to some of the debates and it seems that the one major topic again going into the new term will be to pay back the deficit and balance the budget...don't the republicans have all of the money anyway?.

I have to agree with you all. Spending is out of control. I think that both parties ary guilty of adding to the defecit though. It seems to me that when the Republicans are in the big chair, industry and business get the benefits and when the Democrats are in charge, minorities and special intrest groups get the dough.
Either way we the tax payers are screwed!
I wonder how much of the national debt might be payed down should we call all our outstanding loans to other countries and quit lining the pockets of our House and Senate members?

I'm in a Bob Seger frame of mind..................
by Sunnygal41 inlast night i was snuggled up in my overstuffed living room chair, sipping wine by candlelight with bob seger tunes playing on the cd player.............it evoked quite a mood in me that followed me into this morning at work................two songs that touch/ed me deeply are posted below............how about anyone else.................anyone love bob seger?
if so, which of his tunes is your favorite?.
bob-seger's lyrics - her strut lyrics.

Seger is great. I think my favorite song is Roll Me Away. I've always thought that a Seger's Greatest Hits CD should be included with the purchase of every motorcycle. I love to hop on my Harley, slip on the headphones and the mini-disk player and hit the streets.
His music fits many moods and not a few times have I used it to persuade a certain SheilaM to follow me to the other room ;)
